Why 0.18 mm on a single needle

A single needle gives the finest possible individual stroke; the gauge decides how much pigment that stroke carries. At 0.18 mm the 0501RL is fine enough for delicate skin but holds slightly more pigment than the 0.16 mm 0401RL, so the stroke reads a little more defined while staying natural. It is a good single-needle default when 0.16 mm feels too light and 0.20 mm too present.

As with every single needle, it is slower and less forgiving than a cluster. Use the three-needle 0503RL at the same gauge when you want the same fineness with more speed.

Where the 0501RL sits in the liner family

All Elite liners share the same body and membrane; count and gauge decide the job.

Working with it

Map every stroke, draw at a shallow angle, and keep a tight even stretch so the single needle does not skip. Let the needle lay the stroke rather than pressing. One pass, then read the skin. Wipe along the direction of the stroke.

Hygiene and disposal

Every cartridge is a single-use, individually sealed unit with a filtered back-flow membrane that keeps pigment and fluid out of the machine grip. Check the seal before you open it; if the blister is compromised, discard it. Dispose of used cartridges in a sharps container in line with your state's requirements — in California that means an approved sharps waste container, never household waste.
