Why a U-blade

On a curved blade the pins lie along an arc and engage along their length. On a U-blade the row is bent upward at the ends so the pins stand more on their points — only the tips enter the skin. Less pin surface in the skin means a finer, sharper incision and cleaner pigment implantation, with less drag. The result is a crisper stroke that holds its edge through healing.

That sharpness is less forgiving: a U-blade punishes an inconsistent angle or too much pressure, which is why it is a blade for artists who already have their microblading technique settled. If you want a more forgiving blade for natural full-length strokes, use the curved 18C; for shorter fine strokes, the 11C.

Working with it

The U-blade demands a consistent, near-vertical angle so the tips engage evenly, and a lighter hand than a curved blade — because only the tips cut, the same pressure goes deeper. Keep a firm three-finger stretch, draw each stroke in one clean pass, and read the skin after every stroke; the sharper cut gives you less margin for a heavy pass. Hygiene and disposal

Every blade is a single-use, individually sealed, pre-sterilised unit. Check the seal and the blade tips before you open it; if the blister is compromised or a pin is bent, discard it. A microblade is a sharp — dispose of used blades in an approved sharps container in line with your state's requirements. In California that means a licensed sharps waste container, never household waste.
